Showbiz Showbiz...

Some of you probably know that I was nominated for several award giving bodies for film here in the Philippines (and yes, some of you are, like me, thinking.... WHY??? Nyuk hyuk hyuk!!!) with one commendation from one international giving body in Spain (together with the whole cast and crew of the film). Last night, I attended the 3rd Annual Golden Screen Awards to represent our film, "Ang Daan Patungong Kalimugtong", since everybody from the film are busy with their new indie film, "Balikbayan Box". I asked two friends, Rachel Ragaza and Apol Basilio to accompany me that night.

To make a long story short (coz even I tire out reading a blog that has more than one paragraph), I took home two awards for the film!!! And what is the lesson here??? It pays to have a Christian in your crew!!! HYUK HYUK HYUK!!! Thank you Lord!!!

Ate Edith Verde's Birthday!!!

We talked and gossiped after the dinner... did I say gossiped??? I meant exchanged very valuable information... yep!!! That's what I meant!!! HA HA HA HA!!!

Ate Edith Verde, a long lost, reinstated friend of mine (for those who know better, just keep quiet, ha ha!!!) celebrated her birthday at Heritage Baptist Church. What can I say... the food was overflowing and everything was really yummy!!! The kani salad... superb!!! I asked her to make it and she obliged to my request. Thanks so much for the feast, Ate Edith... everything was really wonderful!!!

Ok, after that I'M FAT BLOG... I need an ego boost. This site I bumped into had already three victims that I know of, so I'm biting. WHAT THE HECK!!! Let's give it a try. And boy, what a boost... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? ME??? Look like these people? No wonder many people visit this site. It certainly is... well... very amusing. I was nominated for Best Music in film at the Gawad Urian, the highest award giving body for film here in the Philippines. I was accompanied for the evening by Ms. Rachel Ragaza, the founder of our theater organization, The Redeemed Stage. The evening was so surreal. It was a fun night!!!

The Devil Wears Prada (BOOK vs. MOVIE)

I finished reading the book weeks ago, and I was able to watch the movie at Greenbelt III about two weeks ago (advance screening). The book is really different from the movie, and I have to say I was really surprised because it's very rare for me to like the movie more than the book.

After I finished reading the book, I was really disappointed. Not what I had in mind. And no offence meant to Lauren Weisberger, but for me... the book really stinks. The only time I got excited while reading the book was when a famous designer I know is mentioned (Calvin Klein, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Hermes, etc, etc, etc). But other than that, the book just keeps on going and going, on and on and on, time and again (am I sounding redundant? The book sure is THAT!!!) about how Andrea gets pummeled by Miranda's EVILNESS! The ending is very predictable. And disappointing. There are also some other factors that disappointed me about this book, but for the benefit of those who still wants to read it, I'm not gonna tell.

The movie, on the other hand, is a different story (really, it is!!!). I wouldn't be surprised if this movie gets an Oscar for best make-up, best costume and best actress. Now who doesn't love Meryl Streep? Even as she portrayed the unfeeling Miranda in the movie, I just can't help falling inlove with her again. She is absolutely perfect for the role. She portrayed a different Miranda from the book, still evil enough to hate, but in it (the movie) you'll see a vulnerable side to her character. Anne Hathaway was, well... very well dressed in the movie (she really is!!! REALLY!!!). Acting-wise, well, it was BLAH!!! She did her best, but Meryl totally overshadowed her (heck, Meryl would overshadow an elephant next to her with a five-o-clock shadow with her acting!!!) But even without Meryl, I still think she could've done better. I would describe her acting as monochromatic. All different, but still of the same hue.

I give the book two stars, and the movie, five. Watch the movie, it’s a lot cheaper than the book, and I assure you… it’s gonna be worth it..

The Fat That's There

A few weeks ago, I took one of those
Mercury Drug BP checking what-cha-ma-jig. Turns out my fear of being
200+ lbs. is a huge exaggeration on my part. I'm 177lbs., still heavy,
but not 200+.



The weird thing is... I don't care. I'm healthy, everything's normal,
and I feel great. Those who have body issues... please... spare me the
I'm too fat comments. This is me... take it or leave it.
